SMOOTHIES & SHAKES

Recipes for delicious Smoothies & Shakes to help maintain your weight. All recipes serve 4

Passion Fruit & Vanilla Ice cream Whip.

Ingredients
4 Passion Fruit
100 g Passion Fruit Yogurt
500 ml Full Fat Milk
1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar
2 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream.


Method;
Scoop the pulp from the passion fruit and pass through a sieve to remove the seeds.
Place into a blender with remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
Serve in tall glasses with an extra scoop of ice cream if desired.


Cranberry & Vanilla Ice Cream Spider.

Ingredients
500ml Cranberry Juice
500ml Soda Water
4 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
200 ml Double Cream
1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar.


Method;
Combine the juice and soda water in a jug. Place a scoop of ice cream in a tall glass and pour the juice and soda over the ice cream.
Whip the cream and sugar until it forms soft peaks and spoon over the top of the soda.
Sprinkle with toasted flaked almonds if desired.


Melon Shake

Ingredients
500g Cantaloupe Melon
2 Tablespoons Honey
375ml Full Fat Milk
5 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream.


Method;
Cut the melon into 2cm (1 inch) cubes place in a blender and mix on full power for 30 seconds, or until smooth.
Add the remaining ingredients and blend for a forther 15-20 seconds. Serve sprinkled with nutmeg.


Watermelon Smoothie

Ingredients
600g Watermelon, deseeded.
250ml Full Fat Milk
125g Plain Yogurt
1 Tablespoon Caster Sugar
2 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream.


Method;
Blend the watermelon, milk, yogurt and sugar in a blender until smooth.
Add the ice cream and blend for a further few seconds until the mixture is frothy. Serve immediately.


Summer Buttermilk Smoothie

Ingredients
350g Cantaloupe Melon
2 Peaches, peeled and sliced
150g Strawberries, roughly chopped
4 Mint Leaves
125ml Buttermilk
125ml Orange Juice
1 Tablespoon Honey


Method;
Cut the flesh of the melon into 2cm cubes, place in a blender with remaining fruit and mint leaves and blend until smooth. Add the buttermilk, orange juice and honey and mix on pulse for 15 -20 seconds.
Taste for sweetness and add extra honey if needed.


Banana Latte

Ingredients
15fl oz Full fat milk
2 Bananas sliced
1 Teaspoon drinking chocolate
8 ice cubes
A quarter of a teaspoon ground cinnamon


Method;
Blend the milk and bananas in a processor until smooth.
While the blender is still running add the ice cubes 1 at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Serve in tall glasses sprinkled with drinking chocolate and cinnamon.


Apricot Whip

Ingredients
2 and a quarter oz Dried apricots
1 pot Apricot yogurt
6 fl oz Coconut milk
10 fl Full fat milk
1 Tablespoon honey
1 Scoop vanilla ice cream


Method;
Cover the apricots with boiling water and soak for 15 minutes, drain and roughly chop.
Place in a blender with all the other ingredients and blend until smooth.


Blue Maple

Ingredients
1 x 200g tub Blueberry fromage frais
185ml Full fat milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Half a teaspoon ground cinnamon
300g frozen blueberries


Method;
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.


Island Shake

Ingredients
400g Fresh mango pulp
4 fl oz fresh lime juice
4 fl oz coconut milk
2 teaspoons honey
3 teaspoons finely chopped fresh mint
200g ice cubes


Method;
Blend all the ingredients together until smooth.
Chill well and serve.


Banana Passion

Ingredients
3 Passion fruit Halved
1 Large banana sliced
8oz Full Fat Milk
60g Plain yogurt


Method;
Scoop out the passion fruit pulp and place in a blender, add the other ingredients and blend on pluse until smooth and the seeds are finely chopped.
Add more milk if too thick, don't blend for too long or the mixture will become very bubbly and increase in volume.


Blueberry Starter

Ingredients
7oz frozen blueberries
9 oz plain yogurt
8 fl Full fat milk
1 Tablespoon wheat germ
2 teaspoons honey.


Method;
Blend all the ingredients until smooth.
Serve immediately.


Breakfast Shake

Ingredients
6oz fruit (e.g. passion fruit, mango, banana, peaches, strawberries etc).
8fl oz Full fat milk
2 teaspoons wheat germ
1 Tablespoon honey
60g vanilla yogurt
1 egg
1 tablespoon malt powder


Method;
Blend all the ingredients for 40 - 60 seconds until well combined.
Serve in chilled glasses.


Chocolate Thickshake

Ingredients
125ml Cold Milk
50g Dark Chocolate grated
2 Tablespoons Chocolate Syrup
2 Tablespoons Double Cream
4 Scoops Chocolate Ice Cream


Method;
Blend all the ingredients until smooth, serve in a tall glass with an extra scoop of ice cream and sprinkle with extra grated chocolate.
